About Jeannie

Jeannie Laub counts herself among the fortunate few - she calls Maine island home, where the salt air, rugged coastline and the rhythm of the sea are daily inspiration. It was on the shores of Southport, Maine, that Jeannie crossed paths with the legendary master woodworker Mike Lewis Whaley whaleman of Southport whose larger-than-life character and deep Maine roots left a lasting impression on all who encountered him. Under his colorful influence, Jeannie and Roadie — proudly graduated from the Southport School of the Oddest, a badge she wears with pride. Jeannie uses a wide variety of locally milled Live Edge woods from the island and surrounding Maine coast, including walnut, maple, cherry and oak, along with many other unique species, choosing for their grain character and natural beauty. Today, Jeannie channels the beauty of the coastal Maine into every piece she creates — hand-carved lobster boats each one a reflection of the island life she loves and the wonderfully odd world she inhabits.
